| WASEELA FOUNDATION , THE FACTS, MOTIVES AND PLANS |
| SYNOPSIS |
Allah is the only source of light (THE NOOR) for the earth and heavens. Darkness leads nowhere until we attempt to reach a window of light leading to knowledge about all the disciplines of life. But every one is not so fortunate. Some amongst us have the provision of more opportunities to tap and handle the viable resources of the community for their maximum benefits. While some others are deprived, even from the basic necessities of life.
Our beloved prophet (PBUH) gave a clear initial behavioral message, even for the prisoners of the first ever war of the Muslims in the fields of BADAR, to translate their knowledge and teach an uneducated Muslim, as a condition for their release. This message is self explanatory.
For the peoples who are sensitive and can effect there surroundings for better, while staying in their fields of work, it is an utmost duty for them to take full responsibility and make serious efforts to impart their share of work for a healthier environment in the surrounding violated communities.Perhaps, we can not change everything individually, but a collective effort does have wisdom. |
| Our Mission |
In the remote areas, lack of health education alone, has lead into many serious medical problems. Unfortunately, the peoples are very short in knowledge about the role of environmental pollution, poor sanitation, lack of hygienic conditions non availability of pure drinking water, in the spread of infectious diseases. They are lacking even the basic knowledge of daily food requirements and concept of a balance diet. They are deficit in well equipped medical infrastructure with real technical expertise. Above all, when they fall sick with some killing medical problems, they do not have enough financial resources to meet their requirements for treatment. These things require a serious debate in a viable community. Because this is one of the basic rights of any individual to know and practice everything about their well beings.
Waseela foundation has many related projects in up sleeves to work on for the improvement of the existing medical environment of the community. Health education, provision of medical treatment for different epidemic diseases, preventive measures, research and monitoring for the outcome of medical treatments are major corner stones of the foundation programmes |

| WORKING PLANS ( A BRIEF DISCUSSION ) |
|
In order to address these problems we are trying to devote our time and expertise as our part of share to the community needs. We, with our senior colleagues from the medical field along with some influential personals from private sector, have joined hands in WASEELA FOUNDATION. In order to fight this menace, we need your help and hence are stretching forward our hands for your healthier co operation.
As an earlier job, Waseela Foundation has identified and selected a very specific field to work for the control of a very serious epidemic problem of HEPATITIS, in the community. Regarding this disease, here we would like to relate our observations and plan to work
|
| HISTORY |
From the last so many years, we have been recording a steep high rise in the patients with HCV & HBV positive serum. There are about 15- million recorded patients with serious viral activity. Mortality rate with only HCV reactive patients has been rising to an alarming pace. After experimenting so many alternative modes of treatments, the patient do reach us with a cirrhotic liver, or die in government hospitals with terminal complications. So, for sure, some important links are definitely missing in the chain, which are resulting in this ever alarming serious anomaly. Can we allow the situation to get worse or we can share the responsibility to do our part of job to overcome this worsening situation? |
| APPROACHING THE PROBLEM |
In our opinion, in order to get in control of the epidemic spread of Hepatitis (B&C), we have to adopt an effective and aggressive course, instead of waiting for the patients to reach us for treatment. For the purpose, first we have to understand the reasons, which are adding in, to aggravate the existing situation of this killing disease in the community. These could be summed up as under,
• Lack of knowledge and community education with reference to Hepatitis.
• High cost of the available, proper medical treatment and certain questions, offently raised about its efficacy and outcome of the treatment.
• Availability of, relatively cheap but ineffective, alternative modes of treatments.
In order to put an halt to this medical problem, we need to address the above high lights categorically in a systemic way by launching a scientifically organized, medical program me with its regional head quarters at divisional levels, under the umbrella of Waseela Foundation. Director Regional Co ordination (DRC, the president of the WF) for hepatitis control, an enthusiastic, unidirectional, authoritative and hence partly governmental sponsored personal, will run and take care of the effectiveness of this program me.
|
| A SYSTEMATIC SOLUTION |
• DRC will reach the local administration(officially) at tehsil level and to every of its union council level to organize the joint sessions of interaction with general public, in order to impart knowledge and discuss all the causative and preventive aspects of the disease, like poor hygienic and sanitation conditions, environmental pollution, the possible outcome of the ineffective treatments, course of the disease process in a sick patient with its possible outcomes and the right time of treatment.
• During these sessions maximum active screening of the peoples for hepatitis.
• The DRC will have the official authority to get the technical help, from DHQ or THQ or at BHU levels, whenever required, e.g., need of the laboratory technician or a dispenser, while screening the community for hepatitis.
• DRC will be responsible to collect and tabulate data about the hepatitis patients, to streamline the geographical distribution of the disease and rule out the specific local causative reasons for the spread of disease.
• DRC will also be responsible for research and launching of the newly experimented and effective mode of treatments in the resistant cases.
• Waseela Foundation will be responsible to tap the financial sources for the treatment of the needy patients.
Under the auspices of WF, we can achieve very fruitful and enhanced results through a mutual co operation of governmental and private sector.
|
| WHAT IS REQUIRED ? |
The private sector could be motivated for the treatment of the needy patients, on case to case ownership basis, through sympathetic health insurances, promotion and sponsorship of pharmaceutical companies and also through interaction with the donor agencies. We have found, roughly thirty thousand patients, screened for HCV & HBV positive activity. They are not able to get the proper treatment due to serious financial strains. This is a huge number and an enormous task ahead. We need a lot number of kits for screening of the patients for HCV & HBV positive activity and support for preliminary and followup Lab. Investigations, during the proccess of treatment, along with the neccessary medicines. A minimum of US $ 300/- are required for a single patient in this regard. We also need your support to successfully launch an antifibrotic and a revolutionary treatment for pre cirrhotic and cirrhotic patients who finds no solution to their disease except the liver transplant. |
| WHAT ELSE |
The other possible medical avenues, needing immediate attention are setting up the KIDNEY DIALYSIS CENTER with full technical expertise at tehsil levels, in the much needed remote areas.
Apparently, it all seems a difficult task but with a real zeal to work, success could be assured. In practical field, it will have a great impact. And at the end it will turn out to be a real trend setter. Above all, we will not be trying to take anything away from the existing system but instead, with the collaborative efforts of private sector we will be trying to add something good into it.
May Allah help us all.
